After the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it’s nice to find time outside with family, growing and harvesting.

It’s been one of those weeks- the kind where work and school seem to take over every moment. Between chorus concerts, work life, and the daily hustle, it’s easy to feel like there’s no time left for anything else. But somehow, we’ve managed to keep the little farm rolling right along

Even with the packed schedule, the boys and I found some time to pick some fresh veggies from the garden. There’s nothing quite like stepping outside, basket in hand, gathering crips lettuce, juice tomatoes, and whatever else we can find (snacked on the sweet sugar snap peas, of course)! It’s a satisfying reminder of why we do this–growing our own food keeps us happy and healthy.

Dan also checked in on the bees this weekend. They are hard at work, and it’s always exciting to see a thriving hive (because that means honey is coming)! Bees are such an essential part of our ecosystem. Dan likes to check on them every few weeks to make sure they are all in order.

The meat birds are here- still little, but growing bigger and bigger by the day. They take a total of 8 weeks to grow until they are processed and into the freezer. Raising meat birds is no small task, and keeping them safe and healthy is a commitment- but oh so worth it!

Life on our urban farm might be hectic at times, but it’s these moments- picking vegetables, checking hives, caring for our animals- that make it all worthwhile. It’s a simple joy in the chaos to enjoy fresh food and to work as a family to make it all happen.

Thanks for being with us and following along on our journey! Hope you have a wonderful week of fresh air, fresh food, and family time.
